Policies
ATTENDANCE
Attendance at practices as well as tournaments is expected and mandatory.
Absences and constant tardiness will affect playing time.
We understand that situations happen, please keep your coach informed if you are going to be late or miss a practice as soon as you are aware.
If a tournament is going to be missed due to a scheduled event the coach must be informed 2 weeks prior to the play date.
TIMELINESS
Players and coaches are expected to arrive early enough to prepare for practices and tournaments, that means:
At least 15 minutes before practice starts
Warm-ups should be done by the start of practice so if a player requires more time to put their gear on and get ready, they should plan accordingly
45 minutes to the start of a tournament if your team is playing first
30 minutes to the start of a tournament if your team is officiating first
DRESS CODE
Players are expected to practice in the provided HPVBA practice t-shirts.
Shorts or sweatpants are required over spandex when entering or leaving the gym
The entire team will run if anyone is in violation
Coaches and players are outfitted in Nike gear at all tournaments.
For players that includes jersey, spandex, socks, kneepads
SPORTSMANSHIP
It is expected that each player will win and lose with good sportsmanship and class. HPVBA will not tolerate aggressive, hostile confrontation between any coach, athlete, parent, spectator, or official. Violation of this policy may result in the violator being dismissed from the club.
CLEANLINESS
It is expected that all players, coaches, and HPVBA spectators leave the gym cleaner than when they found it. For players and coaches this includes the benches used for tournaments.
SCOREKEEPING
Each player is expected know how to officiate each aspect of the game (down ref/R2, libero tracking, score keeping, as well as line judging) and do so with sportsmanship and class. No player may leave a tournament early if her team is still officiating.
PLAYING TIME
Playing time is not a right, it is a privilege; thus, it is not guaranteed.
The coach has the final decision when it comes to playtime. Coaches are expected to be doing what is best for the team and club regarding play time and line-up decisions. They should not be questioned during playtime regarding their decisions.
QUESTIONS & CONCERNS ABOUT COACHING DECISIONS
Understanding that tournaments/game days are stressful and emotional for everyone, HPVBA expects coaches, players, and spectators to conduct themselves appropriately. Violation of this by a coach can lead to suspension, violation by a player/parent can lead to losing playing time or suspension from HPVBA.
Should an issue arise, all participants are required to follow the 24 hour rule.
Players, coaches, and parents/guardians/spectators are not to discuss issues on the day of the event, rather a 24 hour wait is required. If an event/issue arises it should be discussed AFTER a player, coach, parent/guardian/spectator has had time to calmly think about the event/issue.
Issues may include but are not limited to:
Playing time
Player position
Line-up decisions
Chain of command
Players are expected to be the first point of communication with the coach
If the issue is not resolved to satisfaction of both parties then a parent may SCHEDULE a meeting before or after practice with their player and coach
If the issue is still not resolved to the satisfaction of both parties, the club director may then get involved with all parties
Violation to the 24-hour policy or jumping the Chain of Command can lead from anywhere between loss of playing time to dismissal from HPVBA.
TRAVEL
Player curfew (in hotel room and quiet) is 10pm while traveling with HPVBA. This is for consideration of other hotel guests.
Lights out is no later than 11pm for players with morning games.

HPVBA does not condone the use of drugs, alcohol, or vaping. Use or possession of any drug, alcohol, or vape at HPVBA practices and/or events is strictly prohibited and will result in discipline, up to and including immediate discharge from the club.
IMAGE & LIKENESS
A player’s image may be captured during the course of tournaments and training in our facility (practice, camps, lessons, tournaments, etc.). HPVBA reserves the right to use the captured images in our professional marketing material.
REFUNDS & CREDITS
A player/guardian must have a deposit paid ($125 for a seasonal team, $500 for all other teams) to reserve a spot on a HPVBA team. Paying a deposit reserves a player’s spot on the roster by HPVBA and commits the player/guardian to the responsibility of paying the remaining tuition in full. The deposit as well as all additional tuition payments are NON-REFUNDABLE.
